When a society finds itself burdened by debt and over-spending, one of the first things to go in our schools is the arts. They are considered by most to be extra-curricular—not an integral part of the learning process—an indulgence.

Over the past five years, the arts have certainly been whittled away. Choir and band, orchestra and painting, drama and dance are all scholastic programs that are gradually being cut out of our schools. They are almost non-existent in elementary programs, and are decreasing in high schools, as well. On paper, it may look as if we are saving thousands of dollars by doing this. After all, the arts require investment not only in teacher salaries, but also in supplies, large spaces, and of course, lots and lots of time. In the end, however, how much will these cuts end up costing us going forward into the future?

A culture is best defined and understood through its arts. Just looking inside a museum will tell you this is true. Ancient Egypt is understood through its pyramids, while Greece and Rome are remembered for their sculpture and architecture. During the Renaissance, the culture of Western Europe was defined by its paintings, literature, frescos and extravagant musical concertos. As we step forward into the next generation, how will our American culture be remembered?

Robert Frost once wrote, “If you’re looking for something to be brave about, consider fine arts.” As a group of writers, artists and photographers, we have decided to accept this challenge, and establish The Creative Arts Academy right here in the West Valley. It is our vision to provide a cultural community center offering a wide variety of programs that inspire individuals of all ages to learn, explore, develop and celebrate their unique creative gifts. These programs will offer dynamic instruction in the visual, audio, performing and literary arts that are student driven, and directed by working artists, performers, musicians and writers.

Beginning this spring and summer, The Creative Arts Academy will begin offering classes to children, youth and adults in the West Valley. Our talented instructors come from a wide variety of artistic disciplines, including ballet and dance, painting and sculpture, creative writing and poetry, dramatic expression and music. Registration is now open to everyone of every age at our website: www.caa-az.org. In addition, we are hosting our first annual Murder Mystery Dinner and Auction on March 26^th at 7:00 pm at Estrella Mountain Community Church to raise funds for student scholarships to the Academy. Getting started! My goal with this blog is to bring to you that personal and informative details needed to get you moving forward. If you and I were in the same room, what would I do differently? Nothing, since all the details I outline in this blog, will be personal videos and step by step instructions.

The end results is allowing you to feel confident to hold your own in home meeting. This is as simple as just spreading the word about the SOLUTION, to all these problems indentified in this Blog. Safety and Income for Life!

4.) Back Office Understanding

As you will find there are two processes to login into your back office. Both are located in the upper right of the WebSafey home page. One to manage your phones and computers, and the other to manage your business growth.

Here is an example view of managing your family's computers.

You can login into your backoffice from any computer with high speed access to view and/or make changes.

Simply follow the instructions to setup our computer or computers. Same goes for your cell phone. Check here to see the current Q&A on cell phones. Some models will not work with WebSafety.

The protector stops kids from texting while driving, but is it the best "Solution"?

We have all heard about the company Taser! My first reaction is a company which features solutions that "Shock" the victim. They are working on a solution which will not be ready until summer 2010. That is about 6 months from now. However, everyone reading this should be aware of the different solutions to the concerns mentioned in this blog.

When you think of the word “Taser”, you probably think of ne’er-do-well criminals on COPS being taken down to the ground in a heap of high-voltage. As you should have read, most of the activity has to do with cell phone, but no mention of home computers or which phones are to be covered. Again, we still picked Web/CellSafety. The process which Taser is outlining (alerting the parent every time their child makes a call, types a message and so on,) can become a burden for that parent. Just imagine each time your teen texts a message, you would have to either hit ignore, monitor, or stop the event. What if you were away from your phone or in a business meeting? Your whole day would evolve around the kids cell phone activity. What if you have 3 to 5 kids, your new job would feel like that of the olden day switch board operator. Alert Systems for WebSafety/CellSafety. It is very simple. Lets say a concerning action is taking place, (possible, sexting, adult content, bullying) the parent is notified of the alert by both email and text. Each time the event occurs the parent will have an alert and can act on it as needed with the image showing proof.

Texting while driving can also be enabled, which prevents the phone from messaging while the car is moving. The parent can also log into their back office and see where the phone is located and speeds at which it has been tracked. This is a great way to track your kids via GPS technology.

Last chance to refinance below 5%

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- If you want to refinance your mortgage into a loan with a sub-5% interest rate, better hurry. Your window of opportunity is closing fast.

Lenders are still advertising rock-bottom interest rates, but for most borrowers, rates are rapidly rising into the 5%-plus category.

During the week of Jan. 7, the average 30-year, fixed-rate loan closed at 5.09%, according to mortgage giant Freddie Mac. That is significantly higher than the 4.71% it averaged at the beginning of the month, and experts say rates will go higher yet.

"Interest rates are up and they're not going to go down below 5% again," said Mark Zandi, chief economist for Moody's Economy.com, not for a while at least.

While homebuyers are still excited about these low mortgage rates, people who already have a loan and want to lower their costs are scrambling to lock in.

Refinancers act when the difference between the rate they're currently paying and the new one is at least a point or two wide, otherwise the costs of going through the refinancing wipes out any savings. In fact as rates rose in December, refinancings plunged, down more than 30%, according to the Mortgage Bankers Association.

A big reason for the jump is that a government program that has kept rates very low is winding to a close. The Federal Reserve has been purchasing mortgage-backed securities since early 2009, scooping up as much as $1.25 trillion worth. That has dampened rate increases by providing a ready market for the securities.

But the Fed's program lapses on March 31, when it cedes the playing field to private investors, who will almost surely demand higher rates. The Fed has already been slowing its purchasing, and that has corresponded with the recent rate increases.

As Treasurys go . . .

Not just mortgage rates have turned north. Treasury yields have as well, another indication that mortgage rates are headed skyward.

The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury has grown steeply over the past few weeks. It stood at 3.2% at the beginning of December and has soared to 3.84% as of Tuesday, a 20% jump.

Mortgage interest does not track Treasury yields in lockstep, but the two tend to mirror each other's movements.

Mortgage securities rates are always higher than Treasury yields because investors demand a premium above practically risk-free Treasurys.

The difference between mortgage rates and Treasury yields is usually somewhere near 1.7 percentage points, according to Keith Gumbinger of HSH Associated, a publisher of mortgage information. The current spread of about 1.2 percentage points is quite narrow.

That's bound to change, according to David Crowe, chief economist for the National Association of Home Builders. He believes mortgage rates will go up to about 5.5% by late summer. But other factors could push them into a larger-than-expected jump.

Economy bouncing back

For example, as the economy improves (it's hoped), businesses will expand production, hire new workers and open new sales outlets. All that requires borrowing in capital markets and the demand for lending will expand interest rates of all kinds.

A recovering economy also boosts corporate profits, making stocks a better bet for investors.

"Stocks tend to do better when the economy improves," said Stuart Hoffman, chief economist for PNC Financial Services. "Mortgage rates will rise to attract investment."

Hoffman's forecast is for rates to stay quite constant the rest of the winter and then elevate gradually during the spring buying season, the busiest time of year for home sales. He said they should hit about 5.5% by the end of June.

After that, the increases will slow, according to Hoffman, but still approach 6% toward the end of the year. He believes they'll cap at around 5.75% and are not likely to fall back to the 5% level again.

What is the most dangerous thing a truck driver can do?

When it comes to assessing risk, we should ask ourselves, "What is the most dangerous thing a semi-truck driver can do?"

For many, such answers as "speeding", "driving while too tired", or "making reckless lane changes" come to mind. For sure, these are extremely dangerous, especially when we consider that too many trucking companies push their drivers to "make time" or turn a blind eye to excessive and dangerous overtime driving.

But according to a new study from the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, sending text messages while driving was the most risky thing a driver can do. According to the report the dangers posed by drivers who send texts or emails while driving "far surpasses" other risk factors. The study shows that drivers took their eyes off the road for five seconds or more while texting.

Five seconds? For a truck driving at full speed, that could easily be more than a tenth of a mile!

After reading this study, it is easy to conclude that texting while driving is likely the cause of thousands of preventable semi-truck accidents each year.

So why aren't the trucking companies taking serious steps to stop this? After all this practice is illegal in most states. They need CellSafety.

Most commercial truck drivers on the road must report their activities to the home office. The parent corporation usually keeps track of mileage driven, average speed, road conditions, braking frequency, when a driver takes a break, weight of the load and many other specifics to each trip. Sophisticated computers can track a whole host of driving activity, so why not texting?

Why can't they monitor texting? Why can't they disable texting while the driver is in a moving cab? Are they training drivers and making them aware of the dangers of texting while driving?

Is there a single trucking company out there that makes texting while driving a firing offense? Have any drivers been fired for this?

Even worse, are trucking companies sending emails and text messages to their drivers while they are driving? (We had a case where it was clear that the parent company was calling and sending emails to their drivers at all hours of the day.)

It's time for the trucking corporations in America to demand that their drivers stop this extremely dangerous activity now.

Hopefully this study will give impetus to stricter regulations and that trucking corporations everywhere will heed the warning signs...before anyone else dies.
